Realizing the Dream, Inc. is a nonprofit 501c3 international organization founded in 2006 by Martin Luther King, III—the second oldest child of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mrs. Coretta Scott King—that is devoted to continuing the nonviolent work of Dr. King into the 21st century.
MISSION
To champion freedom, justice and equality by working to redress poverty, build community and foster peace through nonviolence.
VISION
To continue the humanitarian and liberating work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mrs. Coretta Scott King by rearticulating for this century the challenges and opportunities for championing freedom, justice and equality, while working to eliminate poverty, prejudice and hostile conflict in the United States and throughout the world.
OUR APPROACH
To leverage the moral authority of the King legacy to (1) enable and empower collaborative partnerships across sectors, (2) create the next generation of
peacemakers through leadership development and nonviolence training for youth; and (3) foster nonviolent policy, conflict resolution and citizen action through research, dialogue, education and direct engagement.
