Realizing the Dream hosts a number of special events throughout the year, both to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King and to further our programmatic efforts and mission. Annual King Day Commemoration & Awards Ceremony
Held in January, the Annual King Day Commemoration and Realizing the Dream Awards are an opportunity for Martin Luther King III to honor the legacy of his father by presenting awards to four outstanding individuals, both local and international, whose lives embody Dr. King's dream of a "Beloved Community" for all. Champion of Hope Awards
Held in collaboration with individual partners and sponsors, the Champion of Hope Awards periodically honor individuals from around the globe who strive to make a difference in their community despite hardships. Each recipient is chosen based on his or her service to causes that align with the vision of Martin Luther King, Jr., and together they will serve as living proof that Dr. King’s dream is alive and well. Summit to Realize the Dream
An annual conference that pairs the many stakeholders of Realizing the Dream’s network – Poverty in America coordinators, Generation II principals, and International Youth Corps members, among others –with the nation’s leading thought-leaders for discussions and workshops regarding poverty, community and nonviolence.
