The Sithabile Child & Youth Care Center is a children’s home and educational center outside of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is a drop-in facility for children who are hungry, sick or cold, a place where youngsters can re-claim their childhood, learn to play and look toward their future with hope. The mission of the Center is to rehabilitate families in poverty and children in distress through education, care and counseling.

Claire for portlet

Claire Sokoto

Nairobi, Kenya

 

Currently in her second year toward an undergraduate psychology degree in Nairobi, Claire has accompanied RTD to both Israel and South Africa. Her current project is aimed at increasing the life chances of disadvantaged students in a nearby village by recruiting local community members to upgrade their schools’ infrastructure, creating a mentorship program, and establishing a scholarship fund for students lacking the requisite finances.
