Brcko Stolac Exchange Project

Brcko & Stolac, Bosnia

 

Aimed at alleviating educational segregation in Bosnia’s school system, the Brcko - Stolac exchange project is a response to the stark contrast between Bosnia’s most segregated school system, Stolac, and its most integrated, Brcko. The latter has become a unique model in Bosnia Herzegovina, as students from all three ethnic groups join together in the same classes, while the former is considered to be the country’s worst case of educational segregation.

Claire Sokoto

Nairobi, Kenya

 

Currently in her second year toward an undergraduate psychology degree in Nairobi, Claire has accompanied RTD to both Israel and South Africa. Her current project is aimed at increasing the life chances of disadvantaged students in a nearby village by recruiting local community members to upgrade their schools’ infrastructure, creating a mentorship program, and establishing a scholarship fund for students lacking the requisite finances.
